So far it's not that bad. The hardest part is I just always wanna stick stuff in my mouth and have to stop myself. It'll be good to retrain my brain (again). I've been thinking about my addiction to sugar and how silly it is. I mean say I put some MnMs in my mouth. The flavor lasts like a few seconds and then it's gone. What's so exciting about a few seconds of flavor that makes me want it so much? Lame. And the thing is I was "sugar free" for a whole year after my surgery. Then I baked cookies at Christmas and it was all over. I've had plenty of cookies in my life so I'll just have to live off the memory of them. It's time to start thinking about what my body needs in order to feel its best. I wouldn't ever give my plants sugar water. Why? Because it would kill them. So why do I do that kind of thing to myself, right? Right!

Anyway, I feel pretty good. I start to feel a little worn out when I'm working in the heat of the day but I suspect I'd feel worn out if it was freezing cold out too so I'll take the heat. As long as I take it easy when I get home I feel fine. I know this is slightly unexciting but really it's just about getting into the routine of following the schedule so I take the nutrients, psyllium shake and eat my meals the right amounts of time apart. I don't love the shake. It's not henous or anything but it's just goopy and not tasty. I gulp it down as quickly as possible then chase it with a bunch of water and all is well with the world. That's all I got tonight.

I made it thru day 1 of the 28 day cleanse I'm doing. Man, a month is a long time but it's time. I've really been feeling low energy, low motivation, fuzzy headed and just generally not my energetic, happy self. I had gastric bypass surgery 6 1/2 years ago and eventually got a handle on eating fairly balanced meals. I lost about 135 lbs and maintained that for about 3 years. But then last winter I just started eating way too much sugar which then lead to constant high carb, little nutritional value snacking and gained about 20 lbs.

So my goal with this cleanse is to not only clean out my system of many years of built up gunk but also to detox and kick the sugar habit and get into a much healthier way of eating. This should also help with weight loss and will ultimately help me feel sooo good.

My brother has done this cleanse a few times over the years and I actually did it maybe 10 years ago but don't really remember how long I lasted. Maybe a week? Failure is not an option this time. I'm doing the whole damn month if it kills me.

The basics of the cleanse are that I have to take a buttload of various nutrients in the form of pills plus drink a couple of shakes with some psyllium husk and some clay. And to eat - fruits and veggies. (details here http://www.ariseandshine.com/cleanse28.aspx)

Anyway, day one went well. I feel fine. I didn't have any problems taking everything although I'm still working on my water intake. I drink a lot of water anyway but need to suck down even more.
